Frequently Asked Questions

Our most common questions, answered in no particular order. Let us know if we forgot something!

Is your pottery safe to use?

Yes! It is meant to be used, and is oven, microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe. As with any stoneware, transitions between extreme temperatures should be done gradually. For example, if you have a bowl of leftovers in the fridge, consider transferring the contents to a room temperature bowl before microwaving. Do NOT use Polish pottery on a cooktop or over an open flame!

Is your pottery lead free?

Yes! All of our Polish pottery is lead and cadmium free.

Do you make all this? / Who makes the pottery?

The amazing artists and craftspeople at Ceramika Artystyczna Cooperative handcraft each and every piece of stoneware that we import. Read more history on our About Us page!

Where is the factory in Poland?

Ceramika Artystyczna is located in the Mid to South West corner of Poland, in Boleslawiec.

Is it polish or Polish?

Do you ship?

Yes! We ship anywhere within the USA. All orders depart from Seattle, Washington. Shipping will be calculated by Shopify automatically at checkout. Shipping is available at similar rates for in store shoppers as well. Click here to read our full shipping policies.

What about international shipping?

Shipping internationally is generally prohibitively expensive, but you are welcome to call us at 206-903-1285 to inquire about your specific circumstance. We ship to Canada on a case by case basis. Click here to read our full shipping policies.

What do I do if my order arrives damaged?

We always ship fully insured, and take the utmost care in packing your order. However, if an accident does occur, please let us know ASAP! We ask that you send us photos of the outside and inside of the box as it arrived, as well as the damaged items. We will file a claim with the carrier and work with you to find a replacement or solution promptly. Click here to read our full shipping policies.

What do I do if I’ve broken my pottery?

That depends! We recommend E6000, but remember it will no longer be food-safe, or safe for the oven, microwave, dishwasher, or freezer. We love seeing customers’ creativity in repurposing treasured pieces into flower pots, pencil holders, jewelry, or mosaics!

Do you buy pottery?

We do not purchase from the public. We point people looking to sell their collections to eBay or Craigslist.

I only want one piece in a set, would you break the set to sell it to me separately?

If the set includes a tray that the other pieces sit on, then we are unable to break the set. Otherwise, it is worth asking! For example, if we have a set of two matching egg cups listed online but you only want one, that is something we can accommodate upon request.

I am looking for a specific pattern or shape, can you help me?

Yes! Please contact us to place a Special Request. We will include your order with our next import from Poland, and call you once it’s arrived. This process takes time, but ensures you get exactly what you’re looking for.

What would you recommend as a gift for ___?

We are always happy to provide suggestions based on our experience, but here is some inspiration to get you started:

For the Bride/Groom:
-A set of matching or coordinating large serving bowls, coordinating tea set (cups and saucers, teapot, sugar and creamer set, teaspoons, tea bag rests, etc), serving platters or larger bakers that can go from oven to table.
Just a little something for your friend/Mother/Grandmother/Sister/Coworker:
-Everybody loves a special mug, consider pairing a larger one with one of our Polish soup mixes to make it extra thoughtful. A tea bag rest and matching tea spoon make a special set, or a soap dish paired with one of our artisan soaps is both beautiful and functional.

Are you hiring?

We are always looking for friendly, creative, and energetic help in the store! Please feel welcome to come down for a chat any time we are open. We’d love to get to know you.

Where are you? How can I find you?

We have one store location in Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington. We are downstairs from the main level, below where they throw the fish. Follow the neon sign pointing towards the restrooms, then turn right through the orange double doors. If you step off the elevator on floor 5, we are directly to your left. We are down the hall from the Sound View Café, or next to Mystical Tibet, Taj Mahal, Ventures, and Great Western Trading.
